You don't expect snow at this time? We were there in April/May 10 years ago and it was pretty cool but no snow in Maine. There was still a lot further north in Canada though. It looks pretty on the trees.
It is beautiful, Jo...but I'm ready for crocus and birdsong and warmer days...we were down to nearly bare ground, and then this, today -- an April Fool's joke from Ma Nature...
Deb, we had about 4-5" here in Portland; enough so I had to use the snow blower. I'm just glad I hadn't drained out the gas yet - maybe in June, the way things are going. Portland Airport 1/4 mile away and one of the "reporting agents," measiured 10 1/2". They always come in higher than me - what's their secret?
Mother Nature is always the ultimate prankster. Snow at least makes for pretty effects on the trees. I took a similar photo two weeks ago when we had 2-4". It's chilly today but the tulips and crocus think it's warm enough.
Well, the weather fooled you on April 1st - but it made an imaginative choice for your Sepia Saturday photo. Fortunately here in Scotland we have enjoyed a lovely weekend of spring sunshine, if still a bit chilly. I am looking out on our garden of daffodils, crocuses, aubrietia and polyanthus flowering - " Summer is a comin' in"! I hope that is the end of your snow.
We ended up having one spring early in March, then snow came again, and now it's again warm and springlike...your picture is at least pretty, though I understand the frustration of waiting for the joys of spring.

DeleteYea Deb, a sneeky one.
ReplyDeleteHopeful the snow wont linger/ice -up and damage any branches.
Stay Warm!
It's melting today, Tony! One of those early spring storms in Maine...and it's not very cold, either!
DeleteBrrrrr.....bring on Spring!!
ReplyDeleteIt's not cold out, Helen...nearly 43 degrees today, so things melting like mad; snow slipping off the roof...spring is here, just reluctant!
DeleteOh no, very pretty but I sympathise with you.
ReplyDeleteWe've had enough. At least this stuff melts quickly...and it is, oh, so very pretty on the trees and shrubs. Crocus in another week, I'll bet!

ReplyDeleteI dunno what their secret is, Bob...but if I were you, I'd let them keep it!

ReplyDeleteJust heard that we're getting MORE snow in two days, Mike! Honestly, New England is lovely, but spring is a slowpoke!

ReplyDeleteAnd it seems to be "comin' in" faster for you than for me! Happy spring to you!!!

ReplyDeleteIt's more than pretty up here when we get spring snows...it's stunningly beautiful! Still, I'm really ready for some crocus to appear....
DeleteNow see -- that just makes me mad. Winter has no right creeping back in once the calendar says SPRING.
ReplyDeleteWe've had snow up here in May (not often, but it happens!). Right now, though, I've had quite enough, thank you!
DeleteSlowpoke. I haven't heard that expression for ages but it was common when I was young.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, Lorraine...people either never say it, or say it frequently! I love the word...it expresses exactly how I behave when I'm being one!
