Very clever! And quite a coincidence that I am reading a history of the civil war and encountered Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain just today! Best wishes for a joyful holiday.
Joshua lived in my hometown, Mike! His statute stands at the northwest corner of Bowdoin College; he's got various props for various holidays (I do NOT know who dresses him up, but I love it!)
Ahhh! Forgive me for not making that clear! He was a very famous American Civil War veteran who later became Governor of the State of Maine; lived here in Brunswick and was very involved in town affairs

DeleteWhoever the anonymous decorator was, kudos to them for making people smile & feel a touch of warmth at seeing the result of someone's good spirit. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Gail -- this is exactly what "Christmas Spirit" means!
DeleteA lovely unusual Christmas story.
ReplyDeleteIt happens every year, Sue! Wreaths, ornaments...there's always something for Joshua Chamberlain...
DeleteThat’s a nice touch; thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! It's one of my favorite holiday traditions; Joshua Chamberlain in Christmas finery!
DeleteSo who was Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, for those who don't know?
